Revd Dr Stuart Mews former Rector of the parishes of Tilbrook, Covington, Keyston, Catworth, and Stow Longa, passed into Heaven on Thursday 29th Aug 2024. Stuart lived at Tilbrook Rectory between 2000 and 2007 where he took the services for the Parishes.
The father of four boys and multiple grandchildren, Stuart’s achievements included being the president of the ecclesiastical history society, his primary academic interest being church history around the time of the first world war. He was also a long serving local politician (including chairing Lancaster City Transport) and school governor. As a keen historian, he was proud to preach at his historic set of Parishes. During this time he strengthened his connections with Cambridge and the University, where he formerly studied for his Master’s and PHD.
