The Leightonstone Churches

Have you heard of “Messy Church?” It’s a phenomenon that has been sweeping though the country over recent years – and it’s coming to Spaldwick! For the past half century churches have tried to offer “family services,” but these have tended to be just a simplified form of Sunday worship. Messy Church starts from a different point: it can be on a Sunday but could equally be a weekday early evening or a Saturday morning; the focus is on the Bible but the exploration is through creative work; and the session involves the whole family, not just the children. Food is usually involved, and this gives every session something of a party atmosphere. We’ve earmarked the afternoon of the second Sunday of each month for Spaldwick’s Messy Church, and we’d like to invite everyone (with or without children) to our first two exploratory sessions on July 10^th and August 14^th See our website for updates (www.kymchurch.org.uk) and take a look at the national Messy Church website www.messychurch.org

Cell groups are not meeting as usual this week – as this Thursday is Ascension Day and we have a united Eucharist at Kimbolton Church at 7.30 pm. Each group has been asked to contribute to the intercessions with a thought- and prayer-provoking display around a theme.

On Sunday May 1st we welcome the Kimbolton School Chamber Choir to St Andrew’s Kimbolton for a special choral evensong.  The canticles will be those set by Murrill in E, and the anthem Thou, O God, art praised in Zion by Malcolm Boyle.

With the success of the burgeoning housegroup meeting in Kimbolton, we have now launched our new Cell Group programme. The one overflowing housegroup has become three cells, two meeting on a Thursday evening and another now on Wednesday evenings. Already there is interest being expressed in the other villages, with two new groups being actively considered. Exciting times! For more information about the programme, contact the Rector.
